Mr. the Member of the European Parliament,
Next Monday, the 15th of December, will be the anniversary of the adoption of the Scenario for the changeover to euro. It was on the 15th December 1995, 30 years ago, in Madrid…
And as some people knows here, I had the pleasure to work with the European Commission on this scenario.
But the man who plays a key role alongside of Mr Thibault de SILGUY as co-rapporteur of the expert group, for organising the elaboration of the green paper and for the adoption of this scenario is Christophe BOURDILLON. Christophe was supposed to be with us today but due to a last-minute health problem he had to renounce, with deep regrets However I would like us to give to Christophe a warm round of applause, please.
Thank you
As some people says that “Anyone who opposes the digital euro is going against the euro and the European Union”, I would like to answer today that we are altogether here supporting the euro and supporting the European Union, whatever is our individual position on the future digital euro. And we are here to find a way for a consensus in Europe in the field of payments. As without a consensus, none of the European projects could succeed.
Thank you.
